I have a very good memory of my pre-10 years... from about 4 on, actually. And I do not recall the heat here bothering me in the least.... and I live in an oven. Nearly every summer day is over 100 and often over 110.

We had a water cooler but those mostly just add humidity rather than cool. We had a cellar and it's amazing how cool cellars can keep things... we kept large burlap wrapped bottle of water stored in the cellar and it was very cool. We'd store melons down there, and other foods, and they were VERY cool and refreshing.
