Of my first trip to Indy... to see the Indy 500.

I live in California and for the most part we don't have a clue what humidity is. We had arrived the previous evening and this morning we were leaving our motel to explore the city and later to watch a race. We had come to Indy 4 or 5 days before the big race. I walked thru the large front door of the motel lobby and I hit a wall. That's what it felt like to me... literally, a wall. It felt like if I had gone into my treading water motion I could have actually lifted off the concrete surface and floated in mid-air.

I had been back 'east' before, I had experienced some humidity but this was beyond anything I had ever before experienced. I never dreamed humidity could reach such a level.

Now as I understand it, this from people who live back there and high humidity is common,... that you 'get used to it'. Which I'm sure is mostly true... but I don't think I could ever get used to it. I wouldn't call it 'miserable' but it's certainly not comfortable.

Felt a little humidity when I visited St. Louis those times I went back there for some Ram's football... but that wasn't anything like what I felt at Indy that May. Not sure if St. Louis gets humidity that bad? - JamesJM
