Dogs are the perfect example of what we do in meditation. "Mindfulness". They are in the here and now. In the presence-not "thinking" about the future or the past. They don't wake up in the morning and plan their day. That would require a language. If a dog is "waiting" for you to come home it is not "thinking" "when is he going to get here, I'm so sad and lonely, when will he be here". The dog simply "waits" and when you arrive the dog is excited and finds pleasure. But there isn't "sadness" when you are not home. It's not "thinking" will he come, why isn't he here yet, etc". Just "waiting". In the moment, not the future. They simply do not have the capacity to formulate "thoughts" like us. Mindfulness-how lucky dogs are.
That is the best I can do on this topic.
