I'm not really that way... even with Football. LOVE the game, and I always continue to watch even when the Ram's are gone. BUT... my heart sure isn't in it like it would be if the Ram's were still alive.
I have never really had a 'favorite' baseball team... yet LOVE the history, and the game.
With baseball I've always been the 'contrarian'. I root for whomever everyone else around me is rooting against.
Well, that isn't really true... but it has truth in it.
Now off on a tangent... one of my favorite, I think perhaps my VERY favorite, sports related daydreams, or fantasies, revolves around those baseball teams of yore. And I mean EVERYTHING about them.. .the stadiums, the hot dogs, the barber shops just down the street, the social atmosphere around the stadiums... I can't even imagine, for example, what it must have been like to be around the old St. Louis stadium during the Musial days. Yankee stadium during the Mantle days. I did get to 'somewhat' experience the Giants atmosphere during the Mays days.
When I read today about the "Polo Grounds" it sends my mind off on wondrous thoughts of blue skies, green grass, the smell of popcorn and hot dogs, men in Fedora hats and ladies in dresses. - JamesJM
