Roadies... man... we had them in the 80's.. paid roadies and lotsa guys who just wanted to hang with the band.. we would travel all night to get to where we were playing, we'd check into the hotel and go to sleep at 5am and the road crew would set up ALL the equipment, lights, and PA.. we'd get up at 4-5pm and go soundcheck.. Man, was THAT the life..
..and I get the drives.. usually the band would be in one vehicle and the crew in the truck.. We'd have a blast on the drives to and from the towns.. we never did a long drive home after a show, tho.. we'd always spend the night and start out at noon for home.. lol.. I do miss those days - it was all about the performance and the show and absolutely zero work setting it up.. I usually take a week or two to recover from a show now, but most of that is from loading and unloading and hanging lights and stuff.. another part is old age - everything just "hurts" more...
