It was exhausting, however. We got lucky at the gig.. it didn't go on nearly as long as I had thought it would. We probably played no more than just under 4 hours, which is a LOT.. but not even close to some of our gigs and considering the people we were playing for, far shorter than I anticipated.
Then there's the 'mental' exhaustion... as I stated... after setup I drove to watch my grandson playing his J.C. football game... and it turned out to be a thriller. We won it with 17 seconds to go... but it was even more nail-biting than that sounds. We were down 3 with 5 minutes to go. My grandson reeled in a 45yd pass reception to get us into FG position which we executed to tie the game. The defense then held, got the ball back, and then drove 80yds to score the winning TD.
And to think I got thru all that, the events and the driving, without benefit of even a sip of alcohol or drugs of any kind.
