One of my son-in-laws recently got a small car, (I forget which model), with a 6 speed standard transmission. This was about a month ago. Last night we're in my living room talking about how pleased he is with the gas mileage he's getting and during the conversation the 6 speed came up.
Me - "YOU HAVE A STICK IN YOUR CAR???????"
Son-in-law - "Yes, you knew that, I told you"
Me - "no you didnt"
Son-in-law - "Yes, I did"
Me- "no you didn't"
Son-in-law - "Yes, I did"
Me - well, you get my point - this went on for a while... but then I snapped out of it and said, "Give me the keys". I think he had told me that but it didn't register, and I'd be damned before I admitting that to him.
I ran out of the house with the keys.... it had been a long while, at least a long while for a car with a stick. His car is gutless, but it was a stick... and I was in heaven.
Ended up driving about 30 miles... all in and around town so I could keep shifting all the time.
Since then I've been on every car site on the web searching for standard transmission cars so I can replace my Jag. Bit of a problem... nearly every standard transmission car for sale are of those 'gutless" tiny things.... which I'm not fond of... BUT.... they have a stick. I think it's worth it.
Lot of those Mini-Coopers.... and I detest the looks of those things... but I may be driving one soon. - JamesJM
