F1 is after speed, quickness... I don't think it being 'safer' is a factor... or if it is, (possible), it's a minor one.
Automatic transmissions, in my experience, are rare in Europe... pick your country. I think if 'safer' was a real factor the world would be entirely auto by now? I dunno.
No doubt it's easier... and for the reasons you stated, your physical limitations, no doubt the right choice.
I feel more in control with a standard.. am I actually? I think that's debatable, granted.. other than.. if you 'feel' more in control... you ARE. - JamesJM
