I think the announcers make a difference. They need keep an eye on favorites if they make a move and then let the audience know to keep an eye on them. In this race, they missed where Sovereignty made a move and then all of a sudden he's fighting for the lead. That sucked. The announcer has the emotion for it but didn't set the watcher up for what was an exciting two minutes. But far from the best, or most exciting, Derby, imo.
Still miss the "down the stretch they come" from the 90's... lol
