We have Medicare plus one of the Blues for supplemental coverage. My wife had lung cancer diagnosis a few years back and we went to MD Anderson for surgical intervention along with post surgical care including medications. We have not had to pay a dime so far and we had free choice of the physicians treating her both locally and in Texas. Medical Advantage is a private insurance plan like an HBO where there is a "gate keeper" physician that controls who and when you will receive treatrment "if necessary". That is a far cry from what we have but our supplement is not cheap.
