We have Blue Cross now (through wife's insurance)
I talked to one of those consultants that's not connected to any insurance & he said Blue Cross was one of the more expensive plans & they all cover the same.
He told me that he was just there for advice & would help me sign up with whatever plan I wanted.
He told "as of now" Ace was the best( & cheapest), & was A++ rated.
I looked it up & he was right.
He's going to call back as time gets closer( next Jan.)
I worked with an independent insurance agent about 5 months before I turned 62 so that I would know what I was getting myself into. I've been working with the same independent insurance company and agent for the past 7 years. When I first got on Medicare, the supplement plan I chose was Plan G with American Continental (Aetna). Every year, the independent insurance company reviews what I'm paying for medical insurance and they review my prescription needs along with what I'm paying for that, too. Then they assess whether it would be in my best interest financially and otherwise to switch to a different company or stay where I am. Two years ago, they told me I if I switched from Aetna to Blue-Cross/Blue Shield, I would be paying less for the same Plan G. Since I feel they've done right be me for the past 7 years, I trust them and will continue to let their expertise and experience guide me.
