Yeah, the lower you can get, the better..

and always as much in th emidle of the house as possible.. you wanna have multiple walls between where you are and the outside wall of the house..

Something I've mean to do for years is lag screw 3/4" plywood to the walls on the closet we would shelter in - just long lag screws to the 2x4 studs from floor to ceiling.. an F5 would probably still mess you up, but anything smaller you'd probably be ok.. Tornados are weird in that they can flatten a house and not touch the ones next to it..
