I have wanted a Taylor Koa guitar since... well since I first saw a Taylor Koa guitar. So my favorite guitar store owner calls one day and says he just took a used K14ce in on trade. About 10 years old, but very clean. Says he thought about keeping it but just couldn't justify another guitar. I said I'm kind of in the same boat, but asked what he was going to want and it sounded like a good deal. He said another guy had asked him to hold it until Monday, but he would know Monday if the other guy wanted it. I said if you can sell it, go ahead, because I'm really not likely to buy it.... but if you still have it when I come in for my lesson Monday, I would like to see it.
So it's still there Monday, and it is beautiful. It's a spruce top (I've always really wanted Koa top), but the Koa on the back is gorgeous, it just shimmers in the light.
But I pass on it, and when I get home I tell my wife I really like it, but I didn't buy it. Just couldn't justify it and don't need it.
Christmas morning, my son-in-law comes in carrying it through the door. My wife had called the music store two minutes after I told her I had seen it, asked if she could mail him a check because I had liked it, and they all had conspired to keep it a secret for about a month. The following week I even asked if it was still there, I guess the other guy took it.... and the owner just said it's gone.
Biggest surprise of my life. I dropped a little post with a few pics on Instagram, or I can post some pics here but you'd have to post pics of yours....
