Georgia had no business owning the team. And I’m not saying that to make the point she may have defrauded Steve Rosenbloom out of ownership.
I’m saying it because she took control for two reasons: 1. the notoriety of being the first woman owner and 2. as a source of income which she had no idea how to make money off of. She never understood marketing. The Rams had worst merchandise—they were still offering the corduroy baseball caps when those went out of style in the 70s. No clue on expanding a fanbase or generating excitement.
And if that sounds sexist, Jackie Autry in that same building ran circles around Georgia. She gutted a once proud franchise even before she tanked in the 90s to set up the move back east.
I mean how Rams did we lose to Bill Walsh? Jack Reynolds, Wendell Tyler, Marquez Pope? Such a purgatory for the fans.
