The 40 is the WWF of the NFL.
You wear shoulder pads, a helmet, and carry a ball. You dodge people, you run through people, you move laterally and not in a straight line.
The 40 has to be the most overhyped, under-useful measurement at the Combine or Pro-Days.
The issues are: how fast do you run in a football game, what your skills are, and how well you play the game. All the rest is far less important (other, of course, than your health and what's above the neck).
The Combine is so 1990's.
