McVay is under contract thru 2023 at $8.5M a year. He is currently negotiating an extension that is "likely to be in the ballpark range of $15 million to $18 million annually". [

Should he just STFU until 2023 and work the next two years under the term of his current contract?
I knew someone was gonna go there, AlbaNY, glad it was you.
Apples and oranges comparison.
Snead/McVay contracts do not affect the cap in any way. I consider both irreplaceable and Kroenke has VERY deep pockets so I favor rewarding both and keeping them together for as long as possible. Sky is the limit, I say!
AD, on the other hand, is midway into a VERY lucrative 6 year contract. Moreover, redoing his contract will lessen cap dollars to sign other desirable players to aid in a SB win repeat. This is the critical difference.
Same thing applies to Kupp and any other Ram in the middle of his already lucrative contract.
It comes down to whether it’s best to reward elite players right now for outplaying their contracts at the expense of depriving the team of the ability to use those same monies to further strengthen itself both this season and down the road.
I favor putting the team ahead of individual players, even the likes of AD and Kupp. I further think that Stafford set the gold standard for elite player contract negotiations. I’m not sure that all Ram fans fully appreciate what he did for them.
