One alternative would have been to give AD a 3-year $67.5M contract in 2018 instead of the 6-year, $135M he got.
The average per year is exactly the same: $22.5M a year. But AD would have been a FA this year instead of being tied to the Rams thru the 2024 season.
I do not see how that would have been a better approach. Even if the Rams were able to re-sign AD, what it would have cost? Maybe 3 years, $90M? Or more?
Kinda missing the point here, AlbaNY.
Yeah, the 6 year Ram security is better than a 3 year contract would have been. But the point is whether it is in the team’s best interest to redo AD’s contract right in it’s middle.
It was a blockbuster record setting contract (if only for 24 hours) and I maintain that AD should honor it and STFU until it expires.
I feel this way about all of the gigantic multi year contracts, btw, not just AD’s. Or Kupp’s…
