Which I think probably relates to how much better he was than the other options. His play for us in that stretch was elite.
Either way I like the way they pivot quickly and go right to making this team better just in a different position. We still have AD. We still have a fine DL overall with only one loss this offseason in SJD and a replacement waiting in the wings from last year's draft.
OLB doesn't look good at all now, admittedly. But maybe they feel like they can find a good young edge in this draft. Obviously won't be an elite type, but someone who can survive in the rotation for us would be welcome.
And maybe they pivot and make the back end better. More than one way to field a top defense tbh. You can do it with a shutdown secondary just like a dominant rush. I don't think they're done yet in FA either.
