If your point is that sometime in the future the Rams will have to reset I will agree. Every good team needs to go through that process.
If you look at our stars, except Whit & Miller, they all have 3-4 years of future productivity at a high level. Lord willing we should be able to put together a winning roster and make the playoffs. We can be contenders and when you are a contender you have a shot at the ring.
But I agree eventually there will come a time when a reset will happen, when Donald & Stafford are too old to continue, when Woods is to old and Kupp and Ramsey slow down. Eventually that will happen. So what!!! I would rather have a few more years of contending than worry about the future.
But while we are at it lets look at the future and the reset. When the reset comes we will have draft capital and we will have salary cap available. If we have McSnead still in place and they have a bunch of great ammo at their disposal it seems reasonable that they will figure out how to come out of the reset quickly and set us up for long term success yet again. There might be some pain for a season or two but we won't go through the dark ages again. And BTW those draft picks that we have during the reset will be worth something much more than the 1st rounders we traded away.
How often do you get a chance for the Super Bowl? When the opportunity is there you better go for it and that is what the Rams did. The short term future still look bright and non of us are smart enough to know what is going to happen 3 or 4 years down the line. All we know is that we will eventually have draft capital and salary cap space become available or the window of contending will still be open and McSnead will work to put the envelope even further. As fans we should just enjoy the ride while it lasts and trust that they will rebuild quickly at the appropriate time.
