I think we all know how misleading end of game stats can be. I also think when people say he should have run it more, it's more than just total numbers. Martz used to play this game. Passing it 12 plays in a row and then running it 12 plays in a row isn't what people are talking about when they say the offense needs better balance and better situational usage.

Yesterday the Rams started rush for 8, rush for first down. Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, run, pass, pass, run, run(TD).

Pass, pass, pass, punt.

Run(10), pass, run(8), run(9), run(0), run(16), red zone pass, pass, pass, FG.

So, it was very aggravating how easily the Rams were clearly running and still not riding it to open the game. People want McVay to more quickly recognize when the running game is working and/or that they are taking away the passing game and shifting the attack to underneath or medium or whatever. Stafford cannot refuse the bait so it's up to McVay to attack in other ways when defenses are sitting on the stuff we like to run.

To his credit, he did eventually do that during the game but it was far later than it had to be. It took 3 interceptions for him to relent and that seems like a big and unnecessary risk to take with a win.
