McVay stops running the ball not because of defensive alignment but because he's 'greedy' and wants to show everyone how 'smart' he is. And this is based on your personal experiences with the coach and your communication with the coaches on the field and in the booth during game play?
And yet we ran for 160 yards yesterday. I guess we were dumb enough to luck into that
Gimme a break, Pal.
If you are telling me that you have never added your opinion or potential reasoning to a post, I bet I could prove that wrong if I cared enough to go back and look. The point was sometimes you run the ball, even against a stacked front when you are down near your goal line in order to avoid things like interceptions that create a short field for your opponent. It is based upon my experience playing the game, having coached the game and being a fan of the game. My assessments of being greedy and/or trying to be too smart are as reasonable of an explanation as anything else. FYI... Look at the results. Stafford has done some outright dumb stuff throwing the ball down near his own goal line. I'm NOT a Stafford basher. I'm glad he's on the team. But, he and McVay have to make better decisions in these circumstances.
As for the rushing yards... I specifically said that McVay got away from what was working. So yeah, the yardage in the running game was great. What's your point?
