The Niners knew what the Rams were doing and or going to do. When you can note where the rookie is and get the ball out that fast to the spot where the cb is 8 yards off the los at the snap and then back pedals for some unknown reason and is a step and a half late to the ball then misses the tackle and gives up 21 yards it’s a lost rep and lost chance and lost game.
The point is the scheme and the play call and the player are all at a disadvantage based on tendency and pre scouting by the Niners. It’s plain as day that the plan stunk and the call stunk and the game stunk.
I get the yards in the game and the yards per play. The Niners plan was executed really well based on what they expected from the Rams. The Rams did nothing to make the Niners think or change that plan. The Niners drilled the Rams on both sides of the ball with less talent, considerably less talent.
Why is that? Game plan, Coaching and scheme. The Rams fail miserably in the game to game match up game plan. I don’t see them change week to week for the teams they are going to play.
When was the last time the Rams played a top flight team that any of us walked away thinking that the coaching and game plan was just so good and matched well with who they had in front of them? The Bucs game this year I was really happy with the Plan on both sides of the ball.
I just don’t see the Rams making enough changes week to week and in game to change the momentum and ultimately the outcome.
I think if you asked almost anyone who has the better more talented team in the Rams and Niners most would take the Rams all day long.
So what does that say? Coaching, scheme and play style. The Niners were 3-5 the Rams 7-2 what just happened?
The Niners controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball. They controlled the clock and they beat the Rams up.
Was it the players fault or was it the coaching and scheme? The Rams have plenty of talent, what is the problem?
I would say it’s a mixture of both. I blame Morris for not being more diverse and doing a better job of disguise and hiding weakness like Rochelle. He is a huge liability and lining him up 8 yards off and then him taking steps backwards with no threat at him is a giant red flag.
Yep great play by the Niners and as you said a rep that was won. They won way more reps then the Rams did on both sides of the ball. Based on talent alone that shouldn’t happen, the Rams are clearly more talented so the failure lies with coaching and ultimately the HC.
Change needs to happen now during this bye week. Gets guys healthy, do some self scouting and figure out how to get game plans in place for who you’re playing and not carbon copies for every team.
