I brought up the phantom sack because Bradford took a beating.
Everett was a solid QB. But he had one of the best OL's in football, a strong running game, great receivers... everything Bradford never had. It bothers me that some people can't get past "results". When things got tough well it was apparent that he didn't have what it took. He threw a beautiful ball but he couldn't elevate the team. I doubt he would have lasted a few years with Spags and Fisher.
I think Everett would excel in McVay's system. I think for Bradford to even stay in the league when he had zero help says something... I would just like to see what he could have done with some talent around him and a good OC.
I don't think Bradford was necessarily better than Everett but one fell into a pile of gold and the other fell into a pile of something else. For some people that doesn't matter... results no matter what the circumstance... I would have loved to have seen what Brady would have done if he was drafted by a team like Spag's Rams. I doubt we would have ever heard about him... the goat might have been a jag. Its the cruel reality in the league, and in life, that luck is almost essential in being successful. The old adage "It's better to be lucky than good" unfortunately holds true.
