are you saying that a head coach will deliberately keep out a viable weapon from some teams to save and surprise others? Again the original post was about using DJax as a surprise for the bucs......how can a guy who has the rep of Jackson be put on the field and surprise you?....Yes he played this game, many were saying on this board that something was wrong with him because of his absence in the 1st 2 games.....Now he plays a game and it's because he was used as a surprise......I think he was not in game 1 because the deep ball was there with 2 other guys....He is used to take the top off....in games 1 and 2 that was done by Van and Cooper....it also leaves his legs for a long season...he is not used to surprise anyone.
Roman, It is my belief that McVay intentionally kept DJax out because he was saving him for Brady and the Bucs. Looking back it makes sense the Bucs had no game film of Stafford running this offense, and with him in it it is totally different that it was with Goff. They do not rely on play action to read the defense.
You can not be surprised about D Jax being on the field, but you can be surprised on how he is used. McVay put him in the slot, garnering the teams 3 rd corner, safety or OLB. I was at the game the corners and safeties were always pointing at DJax and telling the other DB's where he was lined up, they did not do that for anybody but him.
I too was in the category of, "Why isn"t DJax playing" I thought he went Mike Martz, that is the beauty of this, he set the Bucs up.
Roman, we disagree on getting deep and taking the top off a defense. Getting schemed open is one thing, being the fastest man on the field is another. I think Kupp, Woods and Jefferson are basically the same receiver, they are skilled receivers but none of the scare you. If I were playing against Kupp I would have my CB trail him. Jackson has to be accounted for with two people every time he is on the field.
we disagree on saving his legs, Jackson maybe played 20 plays, that is nothing for a professional athlete, to me Stafford's timing with D Jax is not there, he could of had two more touchdowns.
