I find it not believable that McVay somehow forgot about Jackson.
When McVay says things like "I've got to get Jackson on the field" or something like it, that's just his way of answering a question that in some ways is silly.
Of course he has reasons for not playing Jackson until the 3rd game. What are they? He's not about to divulge them. He may not use him every game, fully understanding that the dude has been fragile. Or, for all we know he hasn't been fully healthy. Or he looks at the D he is facing and decides that Jackson isn't the optimal arrow in the quiver, rather Kupp, Woods and Jefferson are. Or that he's bringing Stafford along in the play book and also wanted to feel confident that his OL could hold up well enough for these long downfield passes that require more time. And other things I can't know or think of.
But to suspect that McVay had a brain fart and just forgot how to get Jackson on the field? Be serious.
