But it seems from your season/statistical layout that you will only be happy with trade if they the championship a la 1999.
It's clear right now that the Rams have a team that can win it all. Whether they will us another issue. What appears settled is that #9 makes this a better possibility than 16 by a long way.
That said, I have no problem with disagreement and I would hope people can disagree without being disagreeable.
My take has always been nuances and not too many people can get that around here
you seem to be able to pick up on that...you see things more clearly.
Some here are just sycophantic fans--
some are fans but also call them the way we see them
So, you are right, the trade was
(1) expensive and that has to tbe considered
(2) Stafford was an upgrade to Goff
(3) Rams fans have been talking Super Bowl win since Day 1 of the trade and even more so now
So, to answer your question, no, Stafford does not have to win s Super Bowl to be a good trade
however, number 3--we need to pump the brakes a little
Bears clearly suck, Colts were giving us a hard time--and they lost their QB, we won by 3
Bucs secondary was depleted
All I said was this: Can we wait and see?
I became a believer in the 99 Rams not after we beat the 49ers but when he lost to Tennessee
because they were a good team and we were down so much and came back and a missed FG
kept us from OT and a shot at winning
When I see easy blown coverages for long TDs I think "great, a Rams TD" but I also think
that kind of thing does not happen all year. I have seen too much football to think that
easy breaks continue
Teams will see what has happened and will adust. It will not be a cakewalk to a Super Bowl win
and you saying "clear right now that the Rams have a team that can win it all"
I do not think it is unreasonable or disloyal to say, "can we at least wait and see"?
And it is not being rude to say it's early
As far as the disagreeable. And this does not apply to you
It's the people here with balanced takes that get attacked here, those who say things
that have some negative aspects that get attacked or when there is an opinion
that disagrees with the groupthink here.
The pollyannas cannot seem to take much criticism of the Rams.
I posted that Goff regressed after the Chiefs game pretty early on, People can look it up and see
I don't remember, but it was pretty quick, as quick as anyone and lots of the pollyannas got on me
and I was vindicated with the Stafford trade. No one ever said, "You were right"
Don't get me started in Brian Allen. I took boatloads of crap on that one. And even when he got the
ob there were all sorts of qualifiers like "He got better"
Well, of course, he got better, all players get better with time and experience. But I was the one who
said he was better than Blythe and THAT as the point. Even when he was playing be was young
and not perfect, but he was better than Blythe then he got hurt then he got COVID. It held him back
but people here still attacked me.
Then he got a chance and full rehab, and experience now he's better, but still, none of the extreme
critics (the reasonable ones have) have the guts to say, "I was wrong" they have to qualify it
as "Well, he sure got a lot better"
Look, I make lots of mistakes. I was high on Lewis and he's not turned out great. I was very high on Rapp
and he's okay, but not yet where I want him to be.
But I am not stupid. And I know what Stafford was and is. I don't just watch Rams football. And I have
watched the NFL for a lot of years and I have seen a lot of Rams teams and saidly, there have been
a lot of front-running Rams teams that faded.
So, is this one of them? There is no way to know.
The 1973 Rams looked unbeatable after the 1973 Cowboys game
Same in 1978
and it goes on---
Let's enjoy the "now" and pump the brake a little
I saw a meme where a Rams fan was mocking Tom Brady.
The guy has 7 rings and beat us twice, and the guy is mocking Brady
after a regular-season win.
think about that.
