By that rationale, you didn't count Warner's bomb to Bruce to win the SB. That ball was underthrown and Bruce got lucky because the DB missed the tackle and took a bad angle. It "shouldn't" have been a TD, it was just lucky. A good play but not actually great.
As far as the Stafford hype, you're right. At some point, he is going to fail. Age...injury...something will bring about the end of his "hype". But you're going to hold out until then? I find it very difficult to believe that you're discounting the context under which Stafford had literally the best game of his career.
Isn't that the knock on him? That he can't come up big in spotlight games? He answers that question the way that he did and it's ho-hum? No one wants to be disappointed so I understand tempering expectations. I was very nervous about the Rams, like they so often do, falling flat on SNF. Or being erratic or inconsistent. But for Stafford to be exactly what everyone hoped...
Is this because you're a Goff fan and just personally can't enjoy Stafford because of the circumstances? I don't blame you if that's the case, I've been there with other players. But there was a lot riding on last night and even though it's just a first step, Stafford came up big. When the players and fans see a move like this pan out, it can galvanize everyone. It's more than just Stafford's stat line.
