let me say one thing: He better be great because the Rams gave up a kings ransom for him.
Goff showed that he is no slouch either. Very good game yesterday vs the Niners. Almost brought the lions back all the way.
And one more thing: Remember when I suggested before the start of free agency that the Rams should take a good look at Jameis Winston who was a free agent back then ? I thought it would be good idea to sign him and have an open competetion between him and Goff. Winston had 5 tds and no int yesterday for the Saints.
Yes , very early in the season but maybe the Rams would have been better served with a combo of Goff and Winston and kept all those draft picks . Could have avoided a lot of dead money too.
Okay, lets wait how the season plays out and so far Stafford looks like the real deal.
Go Rams!!!!!!!!!
I think the logic of having two good players at a position -- rather than one
really good player -- works for almost any position except QB. You can only play one QB at a time and if you believe Stafford is better than both Goff and Winston, you have to go with Stafford. Yes, the cost was steep and I was not thrilled with the deal when they first made it, but QB is the one position at which the difference in talent level is far more magnified, having an affect on the entire team -- not just offense, but defense too. Not to mention team morale. You can feel the confidence the team has in Stafford, and that has to invigorate the morale of the entire team. And the bottom line is, if you believe that a guy like Stafford is the piece you need to turn a contender into a champion, then I think it's the right move.
But, as you say, let's see how it plays out.
