Re: 9 Questions about the Rams 8 days before Week 1

The Packers, Bills, and Bucs were the top three scoring teams last year.

It was Matt LaFleur's 2nd year as head coach of the Pack. LeFleur runs a version of the McVay offense so I would think if the league had caught up with McVay they would have caught up with LaFleur, too.

Last year was Sean McDermott's 4th as HC of the Bills, same as McVay. I can't believe the league can figure McVay out in 4 years, but not McDermott. (And it doesn't look like the Bill's OC was a difference maker, either. He's been the Bills OC since 2018.)

And the Bucs? It was only Bruce Ariens' 2nd year with the team, but he was the coach of the Cards for 5 years before that. The Ariens scouting report was already written before he even got to Tampa. And their OC? Byron Leftwich started his OC career in 2018 under Ariens and their kept that partnership together when Ariens went to the Bucs.

So let me throw this out for consideration: Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, and Tom Brady.

I am cautiously optimistic that Stafford is a better fit for McVay and that the Rams scoring results will improve because of it. That, coupled with the probability that there are whole chapters of the McVay playbook that the league has yet to see has me expecting an uptick in the Rams' offense performance.

The Rams were 22nd in the league last year, averaging 22.4 points per game. Adding 4 points per game puts them in the top 10.

Add 6 points and they're top 5. I'm betting they do at least that.

**EDIT** I just read the article that Rams Junkie posted. (Here's the link: [bleacherreport.com] )

A quote from that article says it all:

"Stafford with Sean is going to be fantastic," the coach told Peter King for his Football Morning in America column. "Sean's been waiting for a guy who can execute everything he wants to call."
