I'm hoping this is BB overreacting and getting rid of a good player because he doesn't meet the "on time is 5 minutes late" mentality. He looks like he's a real hammer which I think will pay big dividends for the Rams. Our 3rd and 1 conversions seemed to be a problem last year and it would be nice if SM slammed out those 1 yard gains and first downs.
Of course, I don't expect us to be dealing with as many 3rd and 1's with Stafford at QB. There is value in getting the ball in your playmaker's hands and letting them generate yardage but we fell dependent on the short pass, long run approach and it came up short too often. Stafford, IMO, will be pushing the ball downfield a lot more.
With Jackson threatening the top of the defense and a QB who is willing and able to get him the ball, I think defenses will be playing with 1-2 less defenders creeping toward the LOS and that will give Michel many more opportunities. The running game and the screen game should be a lot more effective with the personnel we now have.
Michel is not a HR threat but he should be much like CJ Anderson was for us and that's pretty darned good.
