That's the only question I really have about him. His injury history isn't great but his knees don't seem to have been a problem recently. On the one hand, I think it may invigorate SM to be the main-ish RB for the Rams rather than a real time share or backup role in NE. But, I have to wonder why NE is ready to get rid of him? Not that they are infallible, but it doesn't make me wonder.
There is some concern there moklerman but for me it's obvious he didn't live up to his first round draft status.
The Patriots declined his 5th year option and that was not a big surprise for when you break down his career.
He was solid but nothing special during his 3 seasons in New England.
When you draft a RB in the first round, a franchise expects you to be special. He didn't deliver and they moved on.
Even with his injury excuses, Sony didn't wow the NFL during his short 3 year career as a Patriot.
He had some good stats in the playoffs during their SB winning season, but his stats over his regular season career are nothing special.
2020 Games 9, ATT 79, YDS 449, AVG 5.7, TD 1, Rec 7, YDS 114, AVG 16.3, TD 1
2019 Games 16, ATT 247, YDS 912, AVG 3.7, TD 7, Rec 12, YDS 94, AVG 7.8, TD 0
2018 Games 13, ATT 209, YDS 931, AVG 4.5, TD 6, Rec 7, YDS 50, AVG 7.1, TD 0
All that being said, I'm one of the happier fans that are glad we traded for him.
