There are many reasons for McVay to be happier this offseason beyond the upgrade at QB.

Let’s see…

Okay, the QB change is a groundswell upgrade which reopens the entire playbook for McVay.
The Morris hire is already looking REAL good.
The DeCamillus hire is also looking REAL good.
There is now good reason to believe that our ST may have been ‘fixed’. That’s beyond huge.
There is now evidence that the Rams did very well in this draft.
DJ and Atwell look like either could add a dimension to this O that’s been missing since mid-2018.
The Harris, Rochell, and Atwell kids have been flashing in drills and all have been getting snaps with the 1’s for various reasons. Pretty darned exciting, huh?
The Floyd extension by itself would make any HC happy.
Jefferson has impressed in minicamp.
Long has impressed in minicamp, as well. This will offer the bonus of starting Burgess at Safety, a twofer.
Sounds like Rams will have at least an above average OL without having to invest a single pick on it.
Rams are favored to win the difficult NFC West.
Rams are among top favorites to win the NFC Conference.

The above items would make ANY HC happy, don’t you think? C’mon…

No need to go digging for imagined intended slights of Goff on McVay’s part, IMO. Our HC is too busy having fun trying to figure out how to best unleash this ‘new’ Offense come September.

Let’s focus on our bright future, shall we?

I don't know about "already looking good" or "evidence" or "good reason". I can agree with "sounds like" however most of that stuff is hope. Yes, from an optimistic head coach's perspective, those are all reasons to be "happy". As far as "opening up the entire playbook" there were some who believed it wasn't wide open last year mostly because of the OL and no deep threat. Quick throws in a horizontal attack.

The head coach can be all giddy about the possibilities for 2021 and I'm there with him in hoping it comes to fruition. But almost every draft class looks good in June and the possibilities for a team's success are overflowing before summer arrives. Having said that, there's no reason not to believe this year will be an improvement.
