It is so strange that you think you need to debate that post. I said the Rams OL will be solid and that Stafford will thrive. What exactly is it you think you're fighting with?

In terms of what I quote--I don't buy that particular myth, though that's on top of the fact that you had no reason to go there. Either way, Detroit had a better OL in 2020 than the Rams--not by a lot but better--and Stafford was sacked more times on relatively the same percentage of pressures. People like to say these wild things about "processing speed" and "Goff could not read defenses" and other nonsense, but none of that holds up--you don't have Goff's good games in 2020 (let alone 2018) without being basically solid with those things.

And I don't buy and never have bought the myth that there are a lot of qbs who "make OLs look better." I call this the "Mahomes in the superbowl" effect. We have even seen Brady and Wilson suffer the effects of that.

Besides if by "looking better" you mean going career 74-90 as a starter and playing banged up a large percentage of the time, then we can do without it. I mean we hear 2 things about Stafford. That he's this great qb who can make an OL look better--and that he's this great qb who suffered playing for a poor franchise. Well, which is it? I tend toward the latter. Stafford hung in there but he could not overcome a lot of things (though he always had weapons, Calvin Johnson among others.)

Stafford will have advantages in 2021 he did not in 2020 and I expect him to thrive with that. The OL will be fine, just like it was last year for the most part. He will have a running game, a top defense to keep games close, and will not be playing from behind as much as he did last year. He's with a creative offensive coach who will listen to him, which by itself will make the coach even better. Given all that I expect Stafford to thrive.

Stafford being a 13 year vet is the final chip on his side for me. Stafford is better than most 5th year qbs, including his own 5th year self in 2013, when he had his share of very poor games. (4 to be exact. It's why they didn't have a winning season that year.) I never underestimate what that kind of experience means for a qb, especially one of his physical talent.

Either way I find it strange that you thought you should argue with that post. I am not even sure what it is you think I said. Truth is, if you actually read what I said, you mostly agree with it.
