I remember the first game against the 49ers where our linebackers were just guessing the entire game because they didn't have the athletic ability to read and react. They were either guessing run and having the ball thrown over their heads or they were guessing pass and giving up major cushions in the run game. And I always thought that that was because they don't have the ability to move back and forth like modern linebackers do. I think I saw that Jones has some sideline to sideline capability which would be good because of 49ers like stretching us horizontally in their run game. But I've also seen that he's not that athletic? So I don't know what to think of him right now. I do like that he's tough and a major team leader though.
My absolute favorite pic of this draft was Rochell though. I'm a huge fan of the idea that the secondary can cover up most issues on a defense including giving the past rush more time to get home and taking pressure off the linebackers to have too much responsibility on passing downs. Rochell feels like a typical shutdown corner just from a physical standpoint. I hope his technique catches up. To have a corner with good size, good length, and athletic ability is just amazing. I remember somebody on the board saying that Rahim Morris was adamant about us drafting him. So hopefully he likes this ball of clay.
