If you listen, it's clear: McVay was a frontrunner and has been figured out on offense. Jared did not adjust to it well.....and IMO, McVay didn't either (see: play calling). Combustible relationship between two young guys......but McVay is the leader and should bare more responsibility.
McVay's reputation is now solely attached to Stafford and winning a Super Bowl. Otherwise, it's not hard to see him going the way of Mike Martz: brilliant offensive mind, but when adversity hits, he has a meltdown (I think the coaches leaving is also a sign) and jettison's QBs. He is a great football mind, but this move is going to hang around his neck either way.
Snead is most definitely an enabler. And he is lucky he works for Silent Stan.
Maybe McVay has changed since the Super Bowl because he knew they had to adapt and change and Goff simply couldn't keep up with it or do it successfully and consistently. That to me is clear. The constant playclock wind down was all on McVay? Or the QB made it look awkward because he couldn't execute it properly?
Don't see the Martz comparison, either. Guess I don't see how McVay is "melting down", or that his coaches are abandoning him by accepting promotions. I see a guy that holds himself, the organization and team to a very high standard. After nearly two decades of the garbage this team trotted out, I couldn't be happier. And if that rubs some the wrong way, or chases off players that can't hold to his standard, I can't say I'm sorry about it. Sure, Sean' a driver, a perfectionist and also has a lot of growth and maturing that someone his age is going to have to go through. Happy to sit back and enjoy the ride. I like where it's going.
