I think this is partly McVay's fault also. IMO, Goff, over time, started hesitating because of the turnovers and the wrath they brought from McVay. So he waited a big longer to make the throw which you can't do in the NFL.
I went back and watch some of the games from 2017 and 2018 (like the KC Thursday nighter). You can hardly believe it is Goff playing compared to the 2020 Goff.

Exactly. As the relationship got worse, Goff got worse. That is squarely on McVay as the head coach. Many on the board have, in the past, referred to McVay as the "Quarterback Whisperer." That is a title that clearly does not describe McVay...nothing said in the articles I have read indicate that he had anything to do with coaching Goff up and everything to do with destroying his confidence. If this trade doesn't result in Superbowl wins the question needs to be asked...can we win the Superbowl with McVay as coach?
