As much as i want us to draft a Center, I'm finding it hard to disagree with you.
Having invested as lot of draft equity into Stafford, the last thing I would expect them to do is stick him behind a rookie center. So that means either bringing back Blythe, another free agent or Corbett/Shelton/Allen(!). Having a center learning the offense along with a new QB just doesn't seem to make sense. One may come later in the draft, but not as our first pick. Centers seem to take a year or two to reach starting potential as it is.
Kromer is one of those guys who wants to put the best 5 out there, in some combination. It would be surprising if a rookie were in that mix. We're in "win now" mode.
I agree 3030.
I know Blythe isn't the best center in the world, but having a rookie out there is scary and Blythe is at least a veteran player.
They still could draft a center but I can't see him starting over Blythe or another FA center until at least next year.
The guy would have to really impress the staff to get on the field this year (Imo).
