First no GM likes going into the draft with a hole at a position. Other GMs know your roster and can then predict your desires which is not good. So yes I do agree at the very least they bring in a median type vet on the cheap as you suggest.
Secondly the learning curve for centers sucks. It's not as bad as TE but look at the centers from the 2020 draft. None of them were difference makers for their teams in year one. We don't need to fix center for 2022 we need it fixed now.
Lastly if they manage to lock down a top center FA the effect it would have on the offense at large is probably the biggest possible impact of the different positions of need on that side of the ball. Adding that would not only improve the passing game via giving the QB more time, but it would improve the run game as well.
I don't know that any potential addition outside of what they've already done at QB can impact this team as much. So as unlikely as it looks from a cap perspective I do think it's a possibility.
You’re actually advocating signing a top tier C, Merlin? Not challenging, mind you, since I can also see the logic. Just trying to clarify. I would love a Linsley, but don’t see how Rams can afford him.
