Goff might surprise and close the gap in the coming years but anyone who thinks Goff should still be the Rams QB is well... Entitled to their opinion.
Maybe Stafford will be nothing special as the Rams QB over the next 2 seasons.
I hear you Florida. otoh, i understand the fun of debating and throwing out your opinions and supporting stats and other teams fans viewpoints and so on as to why the current move is right or wrong.
for me, the reality is i've been rooting for laundry for over 50 years. come game time, i'm rooting for whoever is wearing my favorite laundry. now it's stafford instead of goff, so i'll be rooting for stafford.
doesn't mean i think someone who leaves the rams is worthless. when deacon jones went to the chargers, it didn't stop me from holding him as my favorite ram ever. i didn't disown dickerson when he was traded. my wife got me a gurley jersey just this Christmas and i was thrilled to get it. i wish goff well, he served my laundry well. he'll always be a ram to me just like george allen, deacon jones, dickerson, gurley and on and on.
as far as debating, i never thought about drafting or cap space or the next free agents or trades from when i became a rams fan the weekend before the ice bowl to the mid 80's. the coaching staff and fo let me sleep well at night as they were always contenders. then we had a brief glimpse in the vermiel years (all 1 or 2 of them). then we get martz, linehan , spags and fisher. i couldn't sleep at night anymore. the draft became important, so did the cap, the trades, the free agents. but somehow i couldn't fix it!
then comes the mcvay snead combo. they haven't been perfect i admit but they allow me to sleep at night. we're regular contenders and i think they will for a while. i trust in their goff for stafford move ( and yes, i looked at stats and hihlights and fan opinions and other crap) could be wrong, i've been before . . .
