Re: Win now, mortgage the future?

Why wait? Not so sure about the win now or mortgage the future idea. I must say I like having the draft choices because they come cheaper in respect to the Cap. On the other hand I can see Ramsey as a replacement to the actual 1st rd. pick, costs more, but he's a known quality. The RAMS seem to go that route and it's gotten them up the ladder from the basement they owned for ever.

The ability to choose well in the later rounds kinda offsets the loss of those #1 picks, if they screw those up in the future that is not good for their plan of course. It's the goal to get to the SB, but it's a dry mouth if you get there and lose it. Not so sure it will begin to erode the team doing it the way they do it, unless the guys they do bring in don't mesh, hit injury bugs, but again that can happen with the high picks as well. Then IMO you need to consider the drop off in the draft when you are always picking in the back 1/4 or so of the 1st to that 2nd rd. group of players. Then you need to consider how far some 1st rd. guys drop because of runs on other positions being chosen. That IMO can lead to a domino effect on all the draft choices in those 1-3 rounds. You can get a 1st rd. talent in the 2nd, a 2nd rd.talent in the 3rd. etc.....

Right now they seem to be able to hold their own with roster quality overall, this season is odd because of the virus, all teams will have limited money over what is a normal year.....Just have to tighten the belt and this year may be more important than any other because the money MUST be used wisely and your draft choices need to be luckier or wiser then a normal draft year.
