A QB who has no plan B - Goff often doesn’t appear to have an alternative to his whatever play is called based on the coverage he gets
Also Merlin mentions the all 22
Check it out - On what planet is Cooper Kupp not your first read when he is in man coverage against Jamal Adams. That planet doesn’t exist and yet Goff did not often recognize it Saturday
What you describe may or may not be true of Goff in his 4 bad games this year. (Actually I think what you say misses the real issues.)
But Kurt Warner also said this. Back when Bulger was getting killed in 2007 because he was playing behind a demolished OL, he was trying to remind people that a qb does not operate alone and when the OL is massively compromised so is the qb. There are some who just never listened. I remember all the bad theories about why Bulger wasn't as good in 2007 as he was the year before.
...
Because there is a big problem in using subjective, hyperbolic terms. How does one quantify a "massively compromised" line, anyway? It is beyond tiring dealing with the false narrative that people just don't realize the OL is important. Those that like to play that game are those that like to play the "So, what you're saying is..." game. Show me someone who is criticizing Goff as the sole reason the team wins or loses and I'll show you a 5 leaf clover.
Agree. At no point this year was our line massively compromised. According to both PFF and FO, we have a top 7 OL.
There is no evidence and no metric that supports a narrative that the OL was anything but solidly above-average. But you know anything to distract from focusing on the QB where it primarily should be.
