Orlovsky said Goff missed available checkdowns 8 different times in that 2nd Seahawk game?
That seems like a lot of missed opportunities. Actually, a helluva lot.
It is but think about what it means.
It means he was looking for deeper throws instead of settling for the check down.
I've said it over and over. Goff's big flaw is that when things around him are out of control, he presses to make plays. He presses instead of taking the sack, bailing on the play, sliding, getting out of bounds, and in this case instead of looking for a quick safe check down.
The reason things were out of control in the 2nd Seattle game (as opposed to either the 1st Seattle game or the wildcard game) was that Seattle surprised the Rams by lining up an LB on the LOS and attacking the Rams OL. And it worked, the OL was a mess in that game (remember the goal line plays that got nowhere?) In the 1st Seattle game they blitzed (getting 17 pressures) and in the wildcard game the Rams OL dominated.
Either way you hear these fixed narratives people have and then you look closer and things are not necessarily like the narratives or the narratives are exaggerated.
