cool.
And I will stand by my statement that McVay is hiding his warts. Goff just isn't very good because McVay can no longer hide Goffs warts from DCs as well as he has in the past.
I'm not blaming Goff for losses and Im not giving him credit for wins. Its a team sport. All I'm saying is I do not believe (IE my opinion, so don't act like I'm stating a fact) that you (insert NFL team here) can consistently win with Jared Goff as your (again insert NFL team here) QB.
I disagree. I don;t think McVay is hiding anything with Goff, though he is clearly working around some limitations at RB and WR (and maybe OL).So you are saying Goff is fine, no issues, and that it is literally the 10 men around him? If so, I guess we can end this conversation now, because we are are not only miles apart, but maybe galaxies. I will agree the whole offense has some issues (center, an actual blocking TE, a deep threat WR, a non-injured RB ) but Goff is a hot mess right now.I do believe teams including the Rams can win with Goff at qb.
Not what I said, I said win consistently, I stand by it. Not that Goff is the model of qb perfection, but he has no more warts, IMO, than a long list of successful tier 2 qbs you can win with (like Ryan or Stafford or Flacco in his best year or Simms or Hasselbeck etc.)
Flacco won with an alltime defense, Stafford has never won anything (until he ends up with SF next year) Ryan has won but never the big one, like Goff, etc. He's not in the same tier 1 category as Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, or Mahomes. However he has played well in games where the Rams have beaten the teams that start those guys at qb.
...
If the other 10 guys around Goff have to be wart free in order for Goff to win consistently, I'm ready to move on.
Goff has to be surrounded by elite units in the OL, RBs and receivers to do well.
Basically, the other 10 guys have to be wart free. It's not sustainable.
