Now about our Rams -
While I doubt the Rams thought they would have this caliber defense at the beginning of the year, I’m sure that as of now they know they have blown it
McVay regardless of what he had seen since the Lions game in 2018 continued to put the weight of this offense on Jared Goff. When Goff cannot be the center piece of this offense. There is no way the Rams should still be a team that likes to pretend to be a run team. They must be a run team first with Goff as the QB. MUST!! Just like the 49ers and Titans are run teams first and their passing games are compliments to their ability to run. The Rams pretend to be that but they really aren’t. The Falcons and Packers who also run the same offense are teams that rely more on their QBs but utilize a ton of play action. Goff is neither Ryan or obviously Rodgers.
When you think of the Rams offense, who are they? Think about that for a moment. Who are the Rams offensively? If the Rams offense goes as Jared Goff goes then don’t we all see that it’s a major problem?
Here we are over two years removed from the Lions game in 2018 and the Rams are still losing games the way the Lions first showed the rest of the NFL how to breakdown McVays play action dependent scheme. It’s been over two years!!!
We are still saying the same thing about this offense.
It is inexcusable that the Rams aren’t better at dictating the run better than they are and as a result this offense flows though Jared Goff. Who is simply not good enough in any way shape or form to be the centerpiece. McVay ultimately is responsible for that.
Goff is not as good as I thought and I thought he was average. McVay clearly believed his scheme could cover for Goff... and he was wrong. Unfortunately it’s going to cost him and the team this year
You simply don’t get many chances to win SBs and this years team could have been one had McVay just not been so stubborn regarding this QB and his scheme. I’m rooting for John Wolford but why didn’t McVay bring in a quality backup? Who does that?
It’s on McVay... and I’m telling you right now all you have to do is look at Philly and how they had to tank before they put Hurts in to revive their offense. A QB can spark a team. Even teams like the Eagles who have lost their starting WRs, can’t run the ball, and whose oline has been decimated. The QB even when things aren’t perfect can still play well and be a spark for the offense.
There will be changes and another QB in LA next year. And if there isn’t McVay will either resign or be fired after 2021.

And to be clear I really like McVay a ton but a lot of this is on him. He time and time again since Lions/Bears/SB thru 2019 and now 2020 put all his eggs in the Goff basket. And he didn’t have to do that.
