...man alive, Goff has outright sucked much of this season. But if some of you truly believe this team is a QB away from the Superbowl I think you need to take a breath and re-think.
This is a team filled with possession receivers (very good ones mind you), an offensive line that buckles from the inside out on just about every pass attempt, a coach that has zero killer instinct and a predilection to pass on every down. The fact that this team, with the NFC title on the line and locking up the playoff spot, couldn't score a TD on 4 downs from the 1 yard line speaks volumes about the soft nature of the offense.
Anyone who thinks Darnold or Stafford alone can fix this is going to begging for yet another QB in 3 years.
We don't need a good offense. We just need an average one that isn't a liability. One that can score more than 20 against the Jets!
The various units have their weaknesses. The OL isn't perfect but it's not horrible either. It's been playing worse recently but earlier in the year, it looked very good. But guess what, the offense still couldn't score.
Our coach has his issues although you exaggerate them here. We have a very good run/pass ratio relative to the rest of the league so it's factually incorrect to say he likes to pass every down. I'll chalk that up to hyperbole.
IMO, the biggest issue is absolutely the QB. If we had just average to slightly above average play from that position, the offense would be in the middle of the pack which would be good enough to contend for a SB.
I'll say this, Seattle doesn't win the game last night if not for Russell Wilson. Great performance at the QB position can cover a lot of warts.
