Just like in the 70's and '85 with Dieter Brock? Uncanny.
Not going to rehash what others have pointed out in a very well thought out manner. I gave up on gOff this year and do not see a magical resurgence in 2021. He joined other QB's drafted high in the past few years the league spit up and chewed out (Winston, Mariota, Wentz and now gOff)
In order, other than drafting a QB in round 2 or 3 (and good luck finding the next Russell Wilson), the Rams current NFL options in terms of happening (%-wise) are IMHO:
1) Gardner Minshew: 50%
2) Ryan Fitzpatrick: 10%
3) Sam Darnold: 5%
4) Matthew Stafford: 1%
5) Matt Ryan: 1%
gOff is a Ram through at least next year and McVay has to find a viable #2 option as gOff cannot be traded or released. Zero teams would take him at his current pay and they would have to eat like 90% of his money. He is DOA for 2021.
Things look very bleak, but the light at the end of the tunnel (assuming it is not a '90-'98 and '07-'16 oncoming train) is McVay has a really, really good team and they can maybe snap back next year with even average QB playing. The Rams have been bold before, so I do not see them only drafting a QB or getting a Bortles/Wolford back up for 2021.
What a mess...
