One of the top 3 QBs in the league for two years (1988-1989) and then a slow, inexplicable decline at a still young age that just couldn't be reversed. Hope we are not seeing a repeat.
Do you expect a qb to play well facing 24 pressures on 43 dropbacks? Cause that's an unheard of 55.8% pressure rate.
That's following a game where the Jets DL dominated the Rams OL.
This reminds me less of Everett than it reminds me of Bulger. There was the exact same discussion in 2007. That of course was the year the Rams OL fell apart at an unprecedented level--guys signed off the street during the season were starting for replacements who got injured after replacing starters. And, there were always people who put it all entirely on the qb. Everything was the qb. One pretty vocal theory was that Bulger was playing badly because after signing his big contract in 2006, he just didn’t care any more. Responding that no qb plays well under those conditions was often called “making excuses.”
