and when the Rams can do that, I'm sure they will. My point however is that when teams successfully stop our running game, I'm skeptical that Goff will be able to step up and deliver. The Rams were blowing open holes last night from the first run of the game. You would have to be crazy to not do that for as long as possible. NE simply did not have the talent to stop our run. That will not always be the case. Thankfully McVay did not get cute and start unnecessarily throwing the ball which he has done in the past. I think he is finally evolving and recognizing Goff's limitations.
I agree with you but it isn't technically true. Toward the end of the game, down by their own goal line, inexplicably started going all pass. I can see why they did it to get out of their own end zone, going against what NE was probably expecting. But then they kept attempting pass plays. But a couple of false starts and couple poor passes and that drive was toast. They should have just been running the ball and burning clock at that point but McVay tried to get a little cute. It didn't affect the outcome but it did show that he was not content to just play small ball and not get risky.
We saw this in '18. Rams went run-heavy against the Cowboys in dominating fashion but they didn't stick with it. We saw it at the end of '19 where we went heavy and started featuring Higbee but they didn't stick with it. I hope McVay has evolved and starts incorporating all 3 approaches as the situation dictates but the proof will be in the pudding.
