Agree with almost everything but she went into the argument that deep balls are low percentage and Goff is not as good if he needs more time, etc... as if we are better off with safe short throws to Woods.
While that is generally true, if you dink and dunk all day a good defensive coordinator will come up, to use a deft analogy, as if a girl is at bat...
So you have to keep them honest with the deep ball. And it has to be a ligit threat. Rams are condensing and compacting their offense to passes that are pseudo run plays and this style leads to a lot more 3rd downs and a lot more FG's and a lot less TD's.
It is definitely a compensation for Goff, which is depressing to hear at this point.
Not really...it's a compensation of not having a Cooks or Watkins anymore. Goff was a very good deep ball thrower when he actually had speed on the outside.
He was 3rd in YPA (yards per attempt) in 2017
4th in 2018
14th in 2019
The Rams offense has fundamentally changed since we lost Cooks to injuries last year and that's ok. We still find ways to move the ball and have become more dynamic in that we don't run 11 personnel 90% of the time like we used to. I think the Super Bowl was a bit of a wake up call to McVay to adapt and start using more efficient tactics then the big shots
We still are in the top 10 in 2020 in pass plays over 25 yards, so it's not like we are some dink and dunk offense that some will try to make it out to be
Also top 10 in RZ scoring this year.
3rd in total yards is one hell of a dink and dunk offense I will tell you that
We're just getting started..... Thursday will be a great test to see if McGoff has learned anything from the Super Bowl
