Yes, you have been, max. And that’s fine, because Goff definitely has his shortcomings.
But his results under McVay have been quite good all things considered.
And his post-bye improvement under pressure is very encouraging.
I don’t know how high Goff’s ceiling might be, but I do feel certain that he hasn’t reached it yet. I’m just gonna try to enjoy the ride.
I agree that Goff hasn't reached his ceiling. I'm also saying, he's not in the class with the elite QBs. But he's also not a liability, or a QB that needs to be game planned around...
I agree that he's still growing but we can say that he's not in the class with the elite. But he's also not just a game manager.
He may not be considered that right now, but in 2017-2018 he was a top 5 QB in the DOVA ratings and he continues to climb back up the charts after a shaky 2019.... He is the second winningest QB in NFL (behind Brady) since 2017 and his numbers and career stats compare very favorable and better than most to some of the greatest(Brady, Brees, Manning, etc) in their first five years.
He is only 26 and in his 4th year in this offense so he has quite aways to go to reaching his ceiling.... trying to say he is not ever going to be elite or that he is not going to continue to just get better is a bit myopic imo when he is on pace with some of the greatest to ever play the position ...not saying you are saying that, just a general feeling you get from some around here and in the media .....his story has yet to be written and is just in the first few chapters.
We've all seen what he is capable of doing in some big games, it's just a matter of getting more and more consistent at this point, but we still have to keep in mind that even the greatest QB's in league history have some bad games in between.(see Aaron Rodgers vs Tamp Bay last month)
As a Rams fan who has seen a list of QB's come and go since the end of the GSOT era I'm glad to finally have a QB that just continues to win games and stay healthy
